Doğançay Museum

Doğançay Museum, Turkey's first contemporary art museum, opened its doors to the public in 2004. Located in a 150-year-old five-storey historical building in Beyoğlu, the museum exhibits a small retrospective of Burhan Doğançay's works and the works of his father Adil Doğançay. The artist's works in the museum cover his fifty years of artistic development, starting from his early figurative paintings to works and photographs inspired by city walls.

Doğançay Museum, in cooperation with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and sponsor companies, has been organizing juried art competitions in basic education schools since 2005 and sharing the results with the public. Every year, an average of 7 thousand students aged 8-14 from 1500 schools participate in this event. The museum plans to continue these competitions, which aim to support education through art, in the future.
