Istanbul Toy Museum
Istanbul Toy Museum; It was founded by poet-writer Sunay Akın. The museum opened its doors to visitors on April 23, 2005. The toys exhibited in the museum were acquired at auctions from various parts of the world or purchased from antique dealers. While there were around 1000 toys acquired in this way at the opening of the museum, this number has now increased to 4000. The toys exhibited were purchased with royalties earned by the artist as a result of his individual efforts such as stage shows and theater plays. Each room of the museum looks like a theater stage and was designed by stage design artist Ayhan Doğan. The museum became a member of ICOM (International Association of Museums) in 2009. It started to participate in the activities of the European Museums Forum. It was nominated for an award in the "Best Museum in Europe" competition in 2010 and 2011.
